You can’t. Used to be able to file bancruptcy but all the other deadbeats ruined it for you.Have you thought of a second job?

In most (if not all) states, it’s illegal to garnish your wages for student loan debt. They can garnish anything the government owes you, like federal tax refunds and even Social Security.

It’s likely your student loan debt was sold to a collection agency for pennies on the dollar, and that’s who is threatening to garnish your wages. It’s illegal for a collection agency to threaten to garnish your wages for student loan debt, but they do it all the time. NCO Financial is notorious for it. Google it if you don’t believe me.

If you really want to take ‘em to the mat, get an attorney and make them answer to the illegal practice of threatening to garnish your wages for student loan debt.

    Go get ‘em!

Well guess what? If you couldn’t do it in bankruptcy you’re going to have to pay it back! You’ll probably have to get another job just to cover it. By the way, they certainly can garnish your wages…she is WRONG!

It’s time to get a second job. And yes, they CAN garnish your wages and take your income tax returns.

Do not be mislead, employers can indeed garnish wages to collect student debt on behalf of lenders. The government even tells them how to do it here
